Elizabethan Society

The Elizabethan women showed thier status by thier clothes makeup and hairstyles. The upper class rich women where the trend setters the would have elaborate clothes and hair they would wear white face paint to achieve the desired look. The big hair with jewels and hats and hair nets made out of silk was worn by the rich they would make thier hair much more elaborate so that thier status is shown from thier appearance. 

The poor did try to follow the hair fashion but they wouldn't have the elaborate hair styles as the rich did they would wear cheap versions of hair nets and do most plaits and buns in thier hair once a woman was married keeping her hair tied up was an indicator the woman was p successfully married. Un married women would leave there hair out flowing to indicate that they was ready to be weded.
