Timed assessment as the Hair Stylist

When i was first paired up with Rachel I wasn't to sure or happy and I was nervous because I had never worked on Afro Caribbean hair before so I did not know what to expect plus I didn't see much of Rachel at that time so I assumed she was someone that didn't like to come to classes that often. Now actually working with her I have to say o was so wrong I loved working with Rachel she has been so great to work with she's been at every class and has been understanding as well. She was so easy to get hold of when it came to practicing each other's look she was there to spend how ever many hours. I am so glad to be have paired with her and it's given me a new skill now I feel like I can actually work on anyone's hair. When it did come to her design I did have to help her design her style and push her to be a bit more daring that what everyone else was doing but I loved the fact she was very open minded to any sujjestions and was happy to take and advice to help her further better.

When it came to assessment day Rachel was in on time prepared with her notes and picture we managed to pre-prep the hair in time and even got a little practice before the assessment.

For Rachel's hair I made two paddings out of yak hair and hair nets i moulded it in to shape that she wanted her hair to be then before the assessment I did side ways right locks in her hair for my prepping I had to use hair spray to keep them in place and pin them. When the assessment started Rachel had draw her hair design and had notes which was very helpful I was actually excited to do the design and finally work my skills to the best I could.

For the hair I already had my prep curls I the sectioned the hair in two in the top section I split that hair in the middle then took out a small section to create plaits for a base to pin in my padding. Once I created the base I then pinned in each padding and started in working with each side I had already crimped Rachel's hair and brushed it out so it gave me more thickness and texture I back comb the hair and started covering each hair padding using hair spray to make sure the was no fly aways and the hair was put back nice and smooth and pinned it in to place. I then created a non passed bun at the back of her hair where I tied her hair in to a pony tail took out 4 sections and back combed them and made each section in to a barrel curl the I joined them up with a loose grip.
Once the bun was complete u took the pins out the front curls and made sure I sprayed them with hairspray so the don't budge or fall out I tried to make it look even but that was a bit too much of a challenge for me but I will get there one day, I then slicked the back front and side of her baby hairs down making sure there was no fly aways. I then dressed the hair with pearls in the middle of the hair.

Now looking at the pictures and analysing them I think my front parting is a bit off is not as straight if I could do that again I would make it look straighter and I would work on the front curls more and try make them look more dimensional.

I am very proud of her end results and my timing in doing the hair I got it done fast but I wanted to make sure I used up all my time making sure the hair was perfect.
